Berlin - churches

We didn't see many churches in Berlin but you know how I like churches so it seems like a good place to start. Compare and contrast:

1. The floor in the destroyed and partially restored Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche and the floor in the newly-built Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskriche next door. 

2. The view of the Berliner Dom and the Humboldt Forum from the river Spree and the view of the Spree and the Humboldt Forum from the Berliner Dom.

3. Two perspectives on the St.-Matthäus-Kirche from next door at the Neue Nationalgalerie.

4. Inside the Zionskirche: apse and art ("Der Sturz" by grandmother/granddaughter artist team Ruth Bubel Bickhardt and Lara Wilde)

4. Front and back of the St.-Michael-Kirche, built around 1850 for Catholic soldiers stationed in Berlin, destroyed during World War II, and partially rebuilt. The community now meets in the transept, in summer there are jazz concerts in the nave-turned-secret-garden. Not visible: a two-story! community center / rectory built behind the remaining facade.
