vibrant

Novena-of-gratitude day 3: Today I went to a lovely women-who-priest thing in Klingnau, on the river Aare not far from the Rhein and the German border. The guest speaker was Irmtraud Fischer, an Austrian feminist Old Testament scholar and all-around fabulous person to listen to. The awkward person in the room was ME. But it's crazy that I even get to go to places like this, even if it's absurd to pretend that I might somehow belong in them.

The parish church in Klingnau, which dates from 1239, was rebuilt in 1969 with windows by Ferdinand Gehr, who is known (in Switzerland, at least) for his elemental renderings of sacred subjects. This one represents a life's journey, from the seed at the bottom to the blooming flower at the top.
