So there's the flipped-classroom model, where instead of the students sitting in a room listening to lectures and then doing homework outside of class, the students watch the lectures outside of class and then sit in a room together to tackle the "home"work.
What I want to do is flipped church. What if what we did together was practice reflecting honestly on our own lives? Like AA, I guess? But without the focus on addiction. Hi, I'm Susannah, and I'm human.
Not coincidentally, the boys-with-sticks service is tomorrow. In addition to our cameo appearance as the Red Sea, my partner and I are doing a little skit after the gospel reading, and handing out honey-flavored rice cakes ("manna") to the kids at the end of the service. I'll be happy when this is over.
