Last night, I stayed overnight with my favorite partner in crime. We went swimming, ate fancy kebabs, and spent the night at a hotel that's less than half a mile from our apartment, in a room that until recently was part of a hospice and still had the unmistakable feel of a hospital room (?!). But regardless, it had a comfortable bed and a fabulous view of a random Wednesday night fireworks show (!!). This morning as we enjoyed the hotel breakfast among lots of business casual I wondered if I'll ever have a real job again?
Tomorrow I take off for a weekend in London, to get my fix in before the UK Brexits or implodes or whatever it's on course to do next.
AND a week from Monday I'll be off bright an early with...undoubtedly a bunch of senior citizens?...on a 5-day parish trip to Italy.
This all seems (is!) super indulgent. And yet I'm doing it. Because I can; because I don't, in fact, have a real job; because I've had a long summer of trying to keep everyone organized and happy. Two weeks after I get back the kids will be off school again and we'll be going to Virginia for fall break. And in November the schedule will - finally! - be back to "normal"!!

In the hallway at the hotel. Nothing to see here, just a nursing station an unusually placed and very large monitor. Move along. |

| My mom and I went on one last outing together today before I leave on Friday and she follows on Monday. This is Fontana Park in Chur. |
